I've been in a debate with myself over whether to have all 9 species based off of real genetics for each species or to come up with an EVS based genetics which will still differ for each species but won't be as complicated.
One pro of the really real genetics would be that the player learns about genetics while a con would be that it would make the game really complicated as far as breeding.
A pro of the semireal genetics would be that it wouldn't take as long and would be in more understandable format.
What do you guys think?

Semireal, because, I dunno, having it realy real could subtract from the goodness of the game. However, having it really real could make it really awesome =/
Actually, I change my mind xD Really real!

I go for the really real genetics. I, for one, like challenges. It would keep me interested in the game especially if I'll be able to learn about real genetics. Just don't make it too complicated though. Some people might not understand it. xD

The only problem I could see with really real genetics is that for a number of the species you have, not a whole lot is known about their genetics (colour-based ones anyway). I was planning on doing super realistic genetics on Bahhrz, then I started researching bear genetics and there's basically nothing about colour... I've only found slight mention of mismarks in certain species. Therefore I made up my own genetics based loosely on what I know (dogs), and it's working pretty well so far.

Well, I mean, for the ones that there is very little known about you could blur the edges a little - no one would ever know, really xD

:/ I'm usually one for a challenge but I think semi real would be better in this situation. the game isn't very focused around breeding as far as I can tell if it is than feel free to ignore this I just think it's an awful lot of work to put into something that won't be the focus of the game.
